Our joint replacement specialists perform total hip replacement to relieve the pain and immobility of arthritis in your hip
Hip pain is a common problem, and there are many causes. Some include arthritis, fracture, insufficient blood flow to the hip (aseptic necrosis), bursitis, tendonitis, strain or sprain, low back pain or an infection.
Our orthopedic surgeons make an accurate diagnosis of the cause of your symptoms so that appropriate treatment can be directed at the underlying problem.
Total Hip Replacement
Hip arthritis is a debilitating, painful condition that happens when the hip joint becomes inflamed. It can cause pain, swelling and stiffness and prevent you from living life to the fullest.
The most common surgical procedure to treat hip arthritis is total hip replacement, attaching an artificial hip joint made from specially designed metal and plastic. Thanks to sophisticated implant technology and improved surgical techniques, our orthopedic surgeons are helping people from all walks of life return to physical activity, often after years of pain and immobility.
Other Arthritis Treatment
Before recommending total hip replacement, our orthopedic specialists will try medication, physical therapy and other treatments. Sometimes an osteotomy may be performed. An osteotomy is the realigning or correction of a deformed joint by cutting and resetting the bone to place stress on healthy areas of the joint. The bone then heals in a better position, easing the burden on the damaged parts. It is an option if you are younger and in the early stages of arthritis. You may still have a total hip replacement done later if necessary.
